MELKI:

December 5, 2018 - January 9, 2019

Melchior MARTINEZ, alias “MELKI” was born on October 3, 1970 in Beaune. He arrived at the Foyer and the Etablissement d'Accueil de Jour des Bordes in Montbard in 2005, after a continuous stay in institutions since his earliest childhood.

Melki likes to laugh, joke, cappuccino, techno music "because it moves" and drawing where he excels.

The “expression” workshop within the EAJ allows him to develop his artistic skills. Melki is imaginative, he creates drawings after models that he adapts to his liking : very colorful and funny drawings.

His particular vision of life makes him produce original works. The recognition that this passion brings him is a source of well-being and self-esteem.

Angelina HOPGOOD:

July 24 - October 5, 2018

I am very moved to exhibit some paintings in this neighbourhood which was that of my childhood.

I keep the memory of the old time Voltaire with its courageous, tender and warm women. I dedicate this exhibition to them.

Symbolically, I offer my bouquets of flowers to these generous souls.

“Study beauty only on your knees. In art, you can only get an decent result while crying. Who does not suffer does not believe.

Have religion for your art. Do not think that one produces anything good, even close to good, without elevation of the soul.

To train yourself to beauty, only look to the sublime. Look neither to the right nor to the left, let alone down. Go with your head up to heaven."

Alain & Christelle CHOUREAU:

June - July 2018

Born in Rougemont on 09/14/41, Alain CHOUREAU is the last one in a brotherhood of four.

Hospitalized very young for several years, he developed a passion for painting. He began with oil painting, drawing landscapes of Rougemont. In 1960, he was one of the founders of the Amis des Arts association in Montbard.

Then he experiments with pyrography, a difficult art which consists in drawing on a wooden board by burning it: boat, landscapes, hunting subject ... but also cartoon characters for his children Loïc and Christelle.

He continued his explorations, til the 80s when he became interested in modern art and painted red, black and white canvases.

He died in 2007.

His daughter Christelle followed in his footsteps and studied Fine Arts. She devotes herself to various techniques: pastel, ink, etc.

Annick MILLOT:

April - May 2018

Watercolor and I met in 2013.

At first glance, it seemed difficult to approach and I didn't know if I was going to befriend it. It must be said that I treated it lightly, thinking that a reservoir brush and gum arabic added with pigments would make it.

Except that the rebel had a few surprises in store for me: uncontrolled halos, unglamourous and deceitful greens ... not to mention the 50 shades of blue and the learning of masking!

For three years, I have participated in courses, internships and I learn, hoping to improve my technique. I open my palette and always choose from my favorite colors:

  • cerulean blue

  • alizarin crimson

  • indian and Naples yellows obviously

  • perylene maroon and violet

  • sepia

Heleen DOGGE:

February - March 2018

Dutch, I have lived in France for 25 years.

I discovered felt by chance and have been experimenting and developing ever since. I am seduced by the material, its softness, its warmth and above all its naturalness. Wool brings us a little tenderness, brings back good memories and makes you want to touch.

My initial experience was graphics and illustrations. With the felt, I can combine everything and create in three dimensions.

I set up the MONSTERPOP brand: dolls / monsters which are made of felt from the wool of old recycled sweaters. This gives the creations a history and a soul that I could not get with something new. I appreciate their wear, the little holes and their lousy imperfection... the illusion of the pretty.
